China RoHS EFUP Discussion Paper Released
RoHS-International Ltd has released a technical discussion paper on the China RoHS Environmental Friendly Use Period. This paper addresses the issue of whether the EFUP is based on just the 6 RoHS Substances and elements or whether it is based on the product as a whole. In doing this it adds a technical interpretation to the English translations of the Draft EFUP Standards currently available and discusses the technical detail of the 5 different methods of determining the EFUP (also termed the EPUP). The author Roland Sommer (HND, HNC, MRGC), is the Principal Consultant and Managing Director of RoHS-International. The discussion paper also addresses some of the commercial considerations and risks associated with having a too long, or too short an EFUP.
The paper builds on the EFUP Section of the China RoHS Guidance Notes also written by Roland Sommer. The China RoHS Guidance Notes contain 23 pages of essential information on Scope, Marking, Disclosure, Packaging etc in easy to understand English. The Article “Eight Simple Steps to convert EU RoHS to China RoHS” compliments both the EFUP Discussion Paper and the China RoHS Guidance Notes.
